A shift in perspective is the key feature distinguishing *Escape from Playtime* from the original *Poppy Playtime* series. In the original, the player is a human exploring the factory and fleeing from monsters. Here, monsters explore the factory while fleeing from other monsters. This isn't merely a cosmetic change; since the player characters are creatures with their own unique abilities and limitations, the gameplay differs fundamentally. Three-player co-op is a format that works well in horror games (like *Phasmophobia* and *Devour*), while hiding spots and resource gathering are classic survival mechanics. A one-year window before full release is standard for co-op horror titles where content is added incrementally.
