Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a first-person shooter that is a sequel to the 2010 game Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game takes place in the 1980s, during the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States. Although Cold War is a sequel to Black Ops, the events of the two games are not directly connected, making it suitable for players who are new to the series. The game features familiar characters from the 2010 game, including Alex Mason, Frank Woods, and Jason Hudson.
The player takes on the role of an operative, choosing their own name, characteristics, and various details of their biography. The only constant is the player's call sign, Bell. In the story, the American government is trying to track down a Soviet spy named "Perseus," who has stolen a nuclear bomb with the intention of blowing up a European city, blaming it on the United States, and changing the course of history. To prevent the evil Russian from carrying out his plan, a team of operatives has been formed, including the player's character.
Features of the game:
- the action takes place in various parts of the world: Berlin, Vietnam (memories), Ukraine, the KGB building on Lubyanka, the USSR;
- choosing a certain answer in the dialogues, you influence the development of the plot. Cold War has several options for the end;
- at the base, there is an opportunity to choose tasks, both story and side, and also to communicate with other characters;
- various missions and tasks (stealth, hacking, flying a helicopter, driving an armored personnel carrier, exploring the location with several possible options for passing);
The disadvantages of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War include the lack of weight and recoil in the weapons, the stupidity and lack of intelligence in the opponents, who rush headlong into gunfire without batting an eye, and the unfulfilled potential of the innovations. After all, this is still the same Call of Duty, albeit with a few innovative features.
However, one of the main drawbacks is that the release version of the game only includes eight main maps, which is extremely limited for multiplayer.
