Studio The Coalition introduced a trailer for the upcoming multiplayer video game Gears of War: E-Day, and shared details about the multiplayer gameplay.
One of the main innovations of the shouter will be the updated "Horde" mode, which is now called the Horde Siege. It will have three squads of four players standing on a large map and performing various tasks to destroy the Lokusts. Each team has a different set of tasks, but the squads will be able to interact and help each other.
Players in Horde Siege will be able to choose a character from one of four classes, each with its own characteristics. For example, the medic has a drop-off in his arsenal that instantly revives all comrades nearby.
From time to time, the map will feature a mini-boss, which players from different squads will have to combine their efforts to eliminate. For defeating a special opponent and completing the tasks, special feathers and weapon improvements will be awarded.
In Gears of War: E-Day, four PvP modes will be available. The game will return to what is already familiar for the Team Deathmatch and Conquest series, as well as two new types of competitions. Demolition is structurally very similar to classic bomb-laying modes in multiplayer routines. In Crucible, the player must capture the reactor and carry it to the desired location. A team that holds the object within the designated zone receives points.
The developers also mentioned that almost all cosmetic items in the game could be opened by achieving objectives in the multiplayer. There will be no Battle Pass in Gears of War: E-day.
Open testing of the multiplayer game will take place from 13 to 17 August. Release date is scheduled for 6 October 2026.
