Sony Interactive Entertainment is discussing a possible price increase for the PlayStation Plus subscription. This was revealed by the June Q&A session, where CEO Hideaki Nisino, Studio Business Head German Hulst and Senior Vice President of Finance Lynn Azar touched on the topic.
The company’s representatives stated that they aim to strike a balance between the value of service for players and its cost. They use various factors, including pricing and the structure of tariff plans, to increase profitability. It was noted that the more expensive PS Plus tariffs already attract 40% of subscribers, which indicates high demand.
PS Plus remains a key revenue driver for the PlayStation, reaching record highs in fiscal year 2025.
This discussion is taking place against the background of general trends in the gaming industry: Nintendo recently raised prices for Nintendo Switch Online, and Microsoft, having lowered prices for Game Pass, announced an increase in hardware for Xbox.
