Former Nintendo employees Keith Ellis and Krista Young shared details about the company's information control system and how employees responded to it.
According to them, at Nintendo, access to information is not only a valuable resource but also a significant burden. This applies not only to the temptation to share data with outsiders, but also to fundamental operating principles.
Confidentiality controls were so strict that the slightest leak resulted in immediate dismissal. Sometimes, even the suspicion of a violation could cost a person's career.
"Careless handling of confidential data is almost guaranteed to get you fired," Ellis noted.
Epic Games previously obtained an injunction against someone who was distributing information about Fortnite, preventing further online publications.
