Former Valve writer Chet Falisek responded harshly to protests against Sony’s withdrawal of physical carriers. In his recent video, he said that gamers blame corporations for nothing: the industry is just adapting to the real demand that players create with their wallets.
Faliszek gave the example of statistics: Sony’s digital sales share has already reached 85%. Even at GameStop, which historically specialized in discs, revenues from them are only 18%. According to the developer, consumers themselves voted for the convenience of instant download, effectively forcing publishers to abandon the retailer.
"You don’t want to go to the store, you want to get the game here and now," emphasizes Falisek.
He believes that Sony is not trying to deceive the audience, just reacting to market performance.
So accept that today’s "digital capture" is not a conspiracy by corporations, but a logical sum of your own preferences!
